Get Zu Shield up and running in minutes

Install the Extension

Download Zu Shield from the Chrome Web Store:

Get an OpenRouter API Key

Zu Shield uses OpenRouter to access AI models. You'll need a free API key:

  1. Visit OpenRouter.ai
  2. Sign up for a free account
  3. Navigate to "Keys" in your dashboard
  4. Create a new API key
  5. Copy the key (it will look like: sk-or-...)

💡 Tip: OpenRouter offers free tiers and credits for many AI models!

Configure Zu Shield

Open the extension popup and configure your settings:

  1. Click the Zu Shield icon in your Chrome toolbar
  2. Navigate to the "SETTINGS" tab
  3. Paste your OpenRouter API key
  4. Choose your preferred AI model (Gemini 2.0 Flash is recommended for free tier)
  5. Adjust the toxicity threshold (4-10, default: 7)
  6. Click "Save Settings"

You're Protected!

That's it! Zu Shield is now actively monitoring your emails. Here's what happens next:

  • Toxic emails will be automatically blurred
  • Click "Rewrite" to transform hostile messages into professional communication
  • View your stats in the Dashboard tab
  • Adjust settings anytime to match your preferences

  • • Start with threshold 7 and adjust based on your needs
  • • Enable both "Auto-blur" and "Reply Guard" for maximum protection
  • • Check the Dashboard tab to see your protection stats
  • • Use "Custom Model" option to try different AI providers
