Get an OpenRouter API Key
Zu Shield uses OpenRouter to access AI models. You'll need a free API key:
- Visit OpenRouter.ai
- Sign up for a free account
- Navigate to "Keys" in your dashboard
- Create a new API key
- Copy the key (it will look like:
sk-or-...)
💡 Tip: OpenRouter offers free tiers and credits for many AI models!

Configure Zu Shield
Open the extension popup and configure your settings:
- Click the Zu Shield icon in your Chrome toolbar
- Navigate to the "SETTINGS" tab
- Paste your OpenRouter API key
- Choose your preferred AI model (Gemini 2.0 Flash is recommended for free tier)
- Adjust the toxicity threshold (4-10, default: 7)
- Click "Save Settings"

You're Protected!
That's it! Zu Shield is now actively monitoring your emails. Here's what happens next:
- Toxic emails will be automatically blurred
- Click "Rewrite" to transform hostile messages into professional communication
- View your stats in the Dashboard tab
- Adjust settings anytime to match your preferences

- • Start with threshold 7 and adjust based on your needs
- • Enable both "Auto-blur" and "Reply Guard" for maximum protection
- • Check the Dashboard tab to see your protection stats
- • Use "Custom Model" option to try different AI providers
