Privacy Policy

Our Privacy Commitment
Zu Shield is built on a foundation of privacy. We believe your emails are yours alone, and we've designed our extension to ensure that belief is reality.
Data Collection: None
Zero data collection. We do not collect, store, or transmit any of your email content or personal information. Period.
- No email content is uploaded to our servers (we don't have servers)
- No email metadata is tracked
- No browsing behavior is monitored
- No personal identifiable information is collected
How It Works
All AI processing happens locally in your browser using the OpenRouter API that you configure:
- You provide your own OpenRouter API key
- Emails are analyzed in your browser only
- AI requests are sent directly to OpenRouter (not through our servers)
- Results are displayed in your browser and discarded immediately
Local Storage
The extension uses Chrome's local storage API to save your preferences:
- API Key: Your OpenRouter API key (encrypted locally)
- Settings: Model selection, toxicity threshold, feature toggles
- Stats: Daily counts of blocked/rewritten emails (no content)
This data never leaves your device and can be cleared at any time from the extension settings.
Third-Party Services
OpenRouter: When you use the extension, your API requests are sent directly to OpenRouter based on the API key you provide. Please review OpenRouter's Privacy Policy for their data handling practices.
Open Source
Zu Shield is 100% open source. You can review the code, verify our privacy claims, and even audit exactly what data (if any) is being transmitted. Check out our GitHub repository.
